The shooting left one 43-year-old male suspect dead. A 41-year-old woman was also found dead at the scene.

Two Phoenix police officers shot in a gun battle Saturday morning are now home from the hospital, reports KPHO .
The shooting left one 43-year-old male suspect dead. A 41-year-old woman was also found dead at the scene.
Officers were responding to 911 calls reporting shots fired at the Shade Tree apartment complex just before 2 p.m. As they arrived at the apartment, officers found the woman lying face-down on the second-floor balcony.
As the officers approached the woman, they were fired upon by the male suspect, according to Phoenix Police Officer James Holmes.
Police say the officers returned fire, and a gun battle erupted.
A sergeant was shot just above his belt line. Phoenix police say the bullet actually struck his bulletproof vest. An officer, 44 years old, was grazed in the arm by a bullet.
Both officers are 16-year veterans of the force. They were both released from the hospital Saturday afternoon.
