A Milwaukee police officer shot by an armed robbery suspect Thursday night has been released from the hospital. He was saved from potentially mortal wounds by his body armor.
Police were called to an auto parts store at approximately 8:30 p.m. near 76th Street and Mill Road, WTMJ TV reports.
Officials said the suspect shot at the officer during a chase and was later fatally shot by other officers. Milwaukee police identified him Friday as 38-year-old Burt T. Johnson, who is a convicted felon.
