VIDEO: Georgia Investigator Killed in Collision During Pursuit
A Bibb County, GA, deputy died Thursday in a two-car accident in west Macon after pursuing a suspect, reports WMAZ.
Investigator Anthony "T.J." Freeman was coming to assist in the pursuit of a suspicious Toyota Camry when he collided with the Camry at the intersection of Columbus Road and Buena Vista Drive just after 3 a.m.
Freeman was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead at 3:36 a.m. He was 29.
Bibb County Sheriff's Lt. Randy Gonzalez said Freeman was a member of the K-9 unit and a part of the Special Investigations Unit. He said Freeman's K-9 Bojar was in the car at the time of the accident, but appeared to be OK.
Gonzalez said the man driving the Camry was 24-year-old Montavious Kinder. He was treated for minor injuries. Kinder has been charged with preexisting warrants and other charges are pending.
Sheriff David Davis said Freeman leaves behind a wife and two children.
