VIDEO: Border Patrol Agent Killed in 18-Wheeler Crash
A 29-year-old Border Patrol agent was killed Monday morning in a crash in Fort Hancock, TX, reports KFOX.
Border Patrol Agent Jose Daniel Barraza, who was a K-9 handler assigned to the Big Bend sector in Marfa, TX, was driving a white Ford F-150 when it rear-ended a semi, DPS officials said.
Barraza, who was wearing his seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene. His K-9, Vino, suffered minor injuries.
The driver of the semi was not injured.
Barraza had been an agent with the Big Bend sector since August 2008. He was on duty and on his way home at the time of the crash, according to Bill Brooks, a spokesman for the Big Bend sector.
The cause of the crash is not known.
The Border Patrol Council started a YOUCARING account to help his family during this very tough loss, reports KVIA. According to the YOUCARING page, Barraza leaves behind a wife, Donna, and two young boys.
