VIDEO: Retired CA Officers Help Apprehend Suspect on Golf Course
Two retired police officers out for a round of golf Monday in Fountain Valley, CA, helped apprehend a pursuit suspect who tried to evade authorities on the links.
The two retired officers — one formerly with the LAPD, the other formerly with the Santa Monica Police Department — were out for a round at Mile Square Golf Course around 12 p.m. when they saw the suspect drive across the course in a Jeep Cherokee. They immediately dropped their clubs to help chase him down.
The suspect — accused of car theft — drove the SUV across the 15th fairway, onto the 15th green and then into a water hazard. (The pursuit began on surface streets, but ventured onto the course after the suspect plowed through a fence).
After the suspect exited the flooded SUV, he was promptly taken to the ground by the retired officers, who awaited the arrival of the authorities, CBS Los Angeles reports.
