Police say the events started June 24.
The deceased subject, Miguel Angel Chavez-Angles, first encountered police around 12:33 p.m. at St. James Catholic Church where he was acting erratically. He was distraught reportedly about an impending divorce and officers convinced him to go to a local hospital for evaluation.
He was transported, evaluated, and discharged, KFOR TV reports.
About 4:35 p.m., police received reports about a kidnapping near 11th and Walker.
Chavez allegedly got into a vehicle with two women and told them to drive.
Chavez drove to N.W. 22nd and Western, where he allegedly got out of the car and ran into O'Reilly Auto Parts and locked the door.
Police say the store manager asked Chavez to leave.
That is when he allegedly ran to a nearby city bus.
On the security video, Chavez is heard urging to bus driver to drive.
When Officer Heather Lane arrived on the bus, Chavez attempted to throw a fire extinguisher at her.
When that failed, he reached for Officer Lane's gun. Lane and Chavez struggled for the weapon and one shot went off.
Police say that is when Officer Daniel Carli got on the bus to assist Officer Lane.
Officer Carli fired several shots, striking Chavez.
