Two Baton Rouge law enforcement officers remain hospitalized Monday after they were wounded during the ambush attack that resulted in the deaths of three officers, officials say, reports WAFB.

Bruce Simmons, 57, remains in the Baton Rouge General Hospital, and he now has a second surgery scheduled for Monday night. Simmons was one of six law enforcement officers who were shot by Gavin Gavin Eugene Long of Kansas City, Missouri. Simmons has served as a police officer for 23 years.

Deputy Nicholas Tullier, 41, is one of five officers who were transported to Our Lady of the Lake Hospital where he remains in critical condition. He has 18 years of service with the office.

The status of the third injured officer is unclear at this time, but he sustained non-life threatening injuries.

Three law enforcement officers were killed, three were injured, and a suspect is dead following what police are calling an ambush attack on law enforcement by a Missouri man outside a Baton Rouge gas station.  

Three were pronounced dead shortly after the shooting occurred. They include Officer Matthew Gerald, 41, and Montrell Jackson, 32, from the Baton Rouge Police Department, and Deputy Brad Garafola, 45, with the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office.
