A Lowndes County (GA) sheriff's deputy died Saturday night from injuries sustained in a collision between his patrol car and a semi-truck, according to the Georgia State Patrol early Sunday morning.
Troopers identified the Lowndes County sheriff's deputy as Michael Butler, 39, Valdosta Daily Times reports.
At 8:25 p.m. Saturday, Deputy Butler was responding to a domestic call "with all of his emergency equipment activated (lights and siren)," according to the GSP report.
The semi-truck was stopped for a stop sign and was beginning a right turn. "The patrol car struck the semi on the right front with its front end,” the report says.
