Phoenix Police ID Suspect in 2016 Serial Shootings

According to police officials, Aaron Saucedo, 23, has been identified as a suspect in connection with the shootings. The announcement was made during a news conference Monday afternoon that was attended by many public officials, including Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton.

Phoenix Police announced Monday that a suspect in 2016's serial street shooting incidents has been identified.

According to police officials, Aaron Saucedo, 23, has been identified as a suspect in connection with the shootings. The announcement was made during a news conference Monday afternoon that was attended by many public officials, including Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton.

The shootings happened in 2016, and according to a Phoenix Police update posted on the department's verified Facebook page on August 3, 2016, at least 9 incidents are allegedly related to the serial street shooter. During the news conference, officials also linked a fatal shooting on New Year's Day in 2016 to the investigation.

According to a statement released by Phoenix Police after the news conference, Saucedo was booked for a total of 12 incidents between August 2015, and July of 2016. With the new addition, the total number of deaths from the serial street shootings now stand at nine. The incidents involved 9 homicide victims, 5 aggravated assault victims, and several victims of drive-by shooting and criminal damage.
