VIDEO: WA Officer Rescues Man Dangling From Parking Structure

A police officer risked his life to save a man dangling from a parking structure at Westfield Southcenter Mall in Tukwila, WA, Sunday.

Video posted on social media by the Tukwila Police Department shows the officer climbing to the edge of the three-story building and grabbing the man just before he could drop, reports KING.

It appears another officer holds on to the first officer to keep him from going over. They were able to pull the man back up.

Tukwila officer Chris Danninger, a 12-year veteran of the department, along with two fellow Tukwila officers and a Kent police Sergeant had been negotiating with the apparently suicidal man for two hours before he went out to the ledge.

"I grabbed onto his left arm or his left wrist. Another officer jumped up on the railing and grabbed onto him. It felt like we were there forever trying to get him back onto safe ground," Danninger recalled. "It's a good feeling knowing that we did good yesterday and the gentleman survived."
