The escaped inmate who overpowered an Ohio deputy and stole his gun was found dead at his parents' home following a four-day manhunt that ended Monday, according to a report.

Officers found the body of suspected rapist Branden Powell in a basement crawl space at his family’s Antwerp Township home around 9:30 p.m., according to a police statement provided to WPTA-TV.

Police said Powell, 32, shot and killed himself, reports the New York Daily News.

Powell escaped custody on Friday morning after attacking a deputy driving a police van to the Paulding County Detention Center.

The van crashed in a ditch during the scuffle and Powell stole the deputy’s handgun. He then handcuffed Deputy Robert Miller to the steering wheel and bolted.
