Shakur, born Joanne Deborah Chesimard, is currently on the FBI's Most Wanted list for murdering New Jersey State Trooper Werner Foerster in 1973. She was convicted in 1977 and escaped prison two years later. She is now hiding in Cuba.
Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) joined Tapper in his outrage. "Unbelievable that anyone would idolize a cop killer. Chesimard belongs in jail, & #Cuba should return her to the US so she can face justice," he tweeted.
Response from anti-police activists, Shakur defenders, and the leader of the Women's March Linda Sarsour was furious. You can read it here.
