A corrections officer at a Central Texas women's prison died after a confrontation with an inmate Friday, Texas Department of Criminal Justice officials said.

A corrections officer at a Central Texas women's prison died after a confrontation with an inmate Friday, Texas Department of Criminal Justice officials said.

Shana Tedder, 41, complained of shortness of breath after a "use of force" altercation with a prisoner Friday at the Christina Melton Crain Unit in Gatesville, about 45 minutes west of Waco, officials said.

Tedder reportedly collapsed of a suspected heart attack while walking to another area to rest. Paramedics attempted to revive Tedder, but she was pronounced dead at the scene, the Dallas Morning News reports.
