John Ruzas, the man convicted of murdering a New York State Trooper over 40 years ago, has been granted parole.
When Trooper Emerson Dillon pulled over a car on the Thruway in Canastota in 1974, he had no idea it was on the run from a jewelry store robbery in Dewitt.
Determined to escape, Ruzas shot Dillon, killing the father of six.
Ruzas, now in his 70's, is finishing his prison term at Fishkill Correctional Facility in Dutchess County, LocalSYR reports.
