WV Officer Critically Wounded in Off-Duty Shooting

An Alderson, WV, police officer was shot Friday while off duty. Two other people were also wounded in the incident, which occurred outside a home in Summers County. A suspect is in custody

“A group of individuals were riding a UTV and they went to turn around in Mr. (Frederick) Tolliver’s driveway,” said Senior Trooper Nicholas Boothe of the West Virginia State Police. “While they were turning around, they were fired upon by Mr. Tolliver. ”

Frederick Tolliver, 66, of Alderson is charged with five counts of attempted murder and three counts of malicious wounding after the incident, WVMetroNews reports.

The wounded included McCaden “Mac” Brackenrich, an off duty Alderson Police officer. He suffered gunshot wounds to the neck and upper torso according to Boothe. He is in critical condition at the Charleston Area Medical Center.
