An officer was accidentally shot pursuing an active shooter suspect in downtown San Diego during the Rock 'n' Roll Marathon. Police arrested a woman who had been armed with an airsoft gun.
The San Diego Police Department officer accidentally shot himself in the leg and was taken to a hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening. No one else was hurt, reports the San Diego Union-Tribune.
The suspect, a 58-year-old woman named Mona Elease Williams, surrendered to SWAT officers and was arrested after a pursuit through the San Diego Concourse parking structure, San Diego police Chief David Nisleit said.
The suspect was believed to have been the perpetrator of a hit-and-run crash, and she reportedly pointed a gun at a sergeant when he approached her car.
