A Savannah, GA, police officer was killed early Friday when he was hit by a tractor-trailer truck while working at an accident scene.
Savannah Police Chief Mark Revenew told a press conference that the incident happened about 3:20 a.m. Officer Anthony Christie responded to a traffic accident on eastbound I-16 near Dean Forest Road. While assisting traffic, he was hit by the truck, WSAV reports.
Mayor Eddie DeLoach said, “It’s a sad day to be in the city of Savannah today. … We grieve with his wife Nicole and his family he has left behind. …. "
