The suspect in the murder of a Pike County, KY, police officer will face the death penalty, according to the attorney working the case.

The Appalachian-News Express says Commonwealth's Attorney Rick Bartley announced Tuesday at an officer appreciation ceremony in Pikeville that he plans to seek the death penalty against John Russell Hall, reports WTVQ.

Hall is accused of shooting and killing Pikeville Police Officer Scotty Hamilton in March.
