Actor Erik Estrada of “ChiPs” led a motorcycle ride this weekend through parts of Tennessee and Virginia to raise funds for the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund .
The Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office hosted the event, which began and ended at Bristol Motor Speedway and traveled through Sullivan County, Tennessee, and Washington County, Virginia, the Herald Courier reports.
“We were interested in trying to increase the awareness of police week, and when [Sullivan County Sheriff Wayne Anderson] and I were discussing it, he said, ‘I’d like to get the community more involved,’” said Dan Berndt, a former Palm Beach County Florida Sheriff’s Office deputy.
Estrada, whom Sheriff Anderson honored as a reserve deputy, led the ride, made a few brief remarks and greeted fans.
