A Clayton County, GA, K-9 was stabbed Sunday during the hunt for a murder suspect, according to NCB11-TV.

Police had responded to reports of shots fired, entering an apartment suspected to be the location of the gunfire. They discovered a woman — later identified as Amber Wilson — dead on the scene.

Investigators said the victim had gotten into an argument with the suspect — identified as Randy Young — who fled the scene after the shooting.

During the manhunt, Clayton County K-9 Odin was deployed and upon finding Young was stabbed twice, in the neck and jaw.

Police were then able to subdue Young and take him into custody.

Odin was taken to a local animal hospital where he underwent emergency surgery. Late Sunday afternoon, police said he was out of surgery and will need lots of recovery time.
