Maryland State Police are investigating after a driver of a stolen car fled from police on Monday afternoon, resulting in a crash that reportedly left one person with life-threatening injuries, according to the Baltimore Sun.

Troopers reportedly observed a male subject getting into a dump truck that had been reported stolen.

"The preliminary investigation indicates a Ford F550 dump truck was stolen from Baltimore City," according to Fox45-News.

Troopers "attempted to stop him in parking lot. Suspect refused and drove at troopers on foot, who had to jump out of the way," Maryland State Police said in a Tweet.

Troopers gave chase with lights and sirens activated.

During the pursuit, the suspect reportedly drove across the double-yellow line and struck an oncoming Nissan Versa.

Rescue crews extricated one person from the victim vehicle, who was then flown to a local hospital, according to the Baltimore Sun report. Another person involved in the crash suffered injuries that are described as not life-threatening.

The suspect fled on foot after the crash but was apprehended by troopers.

"Identifications of both the suspect and the victim struck in the crash will be provided when confirmed and when families have been notified," MSP said in a subsequent Tweet.
