A Pima County (AZ) Sheriff's deputy was dragged by a vehicle and shot in the leg at a traffic stop in Tucson Tuesday night. He returned fire and the suspect was killed.
Officials confirmed motor Deputy Jose Velasco, with the Pima County Sheriff's Department, was making a routine traffic stop when the male suspect drove off dragging the deputy, KVOA reports.
Deputy Velasco went after the suspect on his motorcycle and approached the car again. The suspect then shot Velasco in the leg.
Velasco returned fire, and the suspect died from his injuries, officials say.
Velasco was treated at a local hospital and released Tuesday night.
