Friends, family members, and fellow officers gathered on Saturday to remember the officers — Dallas officers Lorne Ahrens, Michael Krol, Michael Smith and Patrick Zamarripa, and Dallas Area Rapid Transit Officer Brent Thompson — who died in an ambush attack two years ago.
Also honored were the other officers and two civilians wounded in the ambush, as well as Officer Rogelio Santander, who was killed in the line of duty April 25, according to the Dallas Morning News.
Following a moment of silence, each of the slain individuals names were read, as white balloons were released into the air.
