A Utah couple was en route to the hospital for the delivery of their fourth child when it became clear that they wouldn’t make it. The husband stopped the car and dialed 911, requesting an ambulance. Logan City Police Officers Newman and Olson arrived on scene before EMS personnel.

“Officer Newman immediately began assisting the mother, calming her down and informing her EMS was soon arriving,” Logan City Police Department said in a Facebook post. “The baby was not as patient and from the front seat of the vehicle at 0044, Officer Newman assisted in the delivery of a healthy baby girl named Lainey.”

Logan EMS arrived and transported both mother and baby to the hospital.

“We would like to recognize Officer Rozalyn Newman for her calm demeanor and invaluable assistance in this situation,” LCPD said in the Facebook post.
