An officer with the Columbus, OH, police responded on Friday to the home of a young woman who had been the victim of an alleged crime.

The following day, Officer Spencer Badger returned to the residence in civilian clothes, bearing a birthday card and a small but meaningful gift.

"Last night when I was taking my report, I realized that today is your birthday," the card read. "I didn't want what happened to ruin your birthday, so I replaced your headphones. Happy birthday."

The girl's sister emailed the department with images and thanks for Officer Badger's act of kindness.

The department shared those images and the sister's letter on the agency's Facebook page.

The email read, in part, "Badger, you made my sisters birthday and I cannot put into words on how thrilled she is that you remembered her and was not just another report."
