Military Veteran Fatally Shot by Police in Suspected "Suicide by Cop" Incident

When responding officers arrived to the man's home on Saturday afternoon, they found the man hiding in some bushes in the backyard of the home, naked and armed with a handgun.

A military veteran reportedly called a crisis hotline for assistance before being fatally shot by police when he pointed a gun at them, according to KPRC-TV News.

Houston police confirmed the department received the routed 911 call from a U.S. Department of Veteran's Affairs Crisis hotline.

When responding officers arrived to the man's home on Saturday afternoon, they found the man hiding in some bushes in the backyard of the home, naked and armed with a handgun.

The man reportedly turned his gun toward officers, who then shot him. The man was transported to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

The man—identified as 30-year-old Christopher Carroll—leaves behind a 16-month-old child.
