The initiative would implement restrictions on the purchase and ownership of firearms including raising the minimum age to purchase a gun to 21, and background checks and waiting periods for purchasing semiautomatic rifles―as defined by the initiative.

According to Ballotpedia.org, the initiative would implement restrictions on the purchase and ownership of firearms including raising the minimum age to purchase a gun to 21, and background checks and waiting periods for purchasing semiautomatic rifles―as defined by the initiative.
According to the Seattle Times, the Washington State Law Enforcement Firearms Instructors Association, the Washington State Patrol Troopers Association, and the Washington state Fraternal Order of Police all oppose the measure.
"We do not believe that the passage of this initiative is going to make people safer in our community," said Teresa Taylor, executive director for WACOPS, which represents more than 4,300 law enforcement officers around the state. Members of the group also believe the initiative could violate the Second Amendment.
