Witness to Non-Fatal Virginia OIS Says Suspect Would Not Drop Gun

"I saw it. It certainly looked justified to me," the witness told WUSA9-TV News. "I could see very clearly from my apartment and he definitely did not put it down."

A man who reportedly witnessed a non-fatal officer involved shooting in Alexandria, Virginia, on Sunday says that the suspect refused officers' commands to put his gun down.

"I saw it. It certainly looked justified to me," the witness told WUSA9-TV News. "I could see very clearly from my apartment and he definitely did not put it down."

Alexandria Police said officers had been called to the scene by several 911 calls for shots fired.

The Virginia State Police will conduct the investigation. The officer who fired the shots will be placed on standard paid administrative leave.
