Video: Illinois Officer Shoots, Kills Armed Murder Suspect

Officer Brianna Tedesco had come upon a wanted subject in an SUV on a narrow gravel road. When she asked the man for ID, he produced a piece of paper, and quickly thereafter, a handgun.

Following a FOIA request, an Illinois agency has release footage of a 2018 officer-involved shooting.

An officer with the Lakemoor (IL) Police Department was making contact with a subject in the early morning hours of July 24 when things quickly went badly.

Officer Brianna Tedesco had come upon a wanted subject in an SUV on a narrow gravel road. When she asked the man for ID, he produced a piece of paper, and quickly thereafter, a handgun, police report.

A struggle for control of the gun ensued. During the fight for life, Officer Tedesco was backed up by another officer, who shot and killed the assailant with a single round to the head.

According to the Lake and McHenry County Scanner, the gunman had been wanted for murder. The Pennsylvania man—identified as 36-year-old Kenneth Martell— was wanted for murder after he tied, robbed, beat and stabbed to death 88-year-old Theodore Garver in his home three days prior.
