Three men are now in custody, suspected of being involved in the murder of Shreveport Police Officer Chatéri Payne as she prepared for work last week.
Officer Chatéri Payne—who had just graduated from the police academy in November—was heading out to work the night shift when she was murdered.
According to a statement posted to the Shreveport Police Department Facebook page, 38-year-old Glenn Frierson, 26-year-old Treveon Anderson, and 22-year-old Lawrence Pierre now face charges of second degree murder.
During a Wednesday press briefing, Shreveport police stated that one of the three men—Treveon Anderson—was Payne's boyfriend and the father of her child.
According to the Shreveport Times, on the night of the murder, Anderson told police that he heard shots outside their residence and emerged to see a man clad in all black clothing that he could not identify.
During questioning of Frierson and Pierre, it reportedly became clear to investigators that it was Anderson who committed the murder.
Police did not immediately reveal a motive.
