An officer with the St. Louis County (MO) Police Department sustained substantial bruises and abrasions but no broken bones when a motorist struck him on a freeway overpass.

The officer had stopped to assist another motorist who had slid into a guardrail, when a passing pickup struck the car the officer was assisting, clipping the officer in the process.

According to Fox News , the driver of the pickup was cited for failing to yield to an emergency vehicle.
