North Carolina Officer Shot in Neck Now in Stable Condition

Officer Charles Ainsworth—who was responding to a call of a suspicious vehicle—had been shot several times, including in the neck.

An officer with the Raleigh (NC) Police Department who was shot in the neck earlier this month is now listed in stable condition at a local hospital. He had previously been listed in serious condition.

According to WRAL-TV, Officer Charles Ainsworth—who was responding to a call of a suspicious vehicle—had been shot several times, including in the neck.

Following an intense manhunt, police located and arrested 24-yeart-old Cedric Jamal Kearney, who has been charged with attempted murder and assault on a law enforcement officer with a firearm. In addition, he faces charges of robbery with a dangerous weapon, breaking and entering, and felony larceny in a separate incident.
