Prosecutors Seek Death Penalty for Man Accused of Murdering 2 Kansas Deputies
Wyandotte County District Attorney Mark Dupree filed notice to seek the death penalty for Antoine Fielder should he be found guilty of killing 44-year-old Theresa King and 35-year-old Patrick Rohrer during an inmate transfer to the Wyandotte County Correction and Court Services Building last year.
A Kansas district attorney filed notice Friday that he will seek the death penalty for the man charged with murdering two sheriff's deputies last summer.
Wyandotte County District Attorney Mark Dupree said that he is seeking the death penalty for Antoine Fielder should he be found guilty of killing 44-year-old Theresa King and 35-year-old Patrick Rohrer during an inmate transfer to the Wyandotte County Correction and Court Services Building last year.
They were unloading Fielder from the transport van in the facility's exterior sally port when the man attacked them. Fielder was able to disarm one of the deputies and shot them both.
According to the Kansas City Star, a mental competency examination was also ordered for Fielder. His attorneys requested the exam to determine if he is competent to stand trial.
