Off-Duty Baltimore Officer Dies of Apparent Drug Overdose

According to WBAL-TV, the girlfriend of 25-year-old Joseph Banks called 911 seeking assistance after realizing that Banks was in trouble.

An off-duty officer with the Baltimore (MD) Police Department died of an apparent drug overdose over the weekend.

According to WBAL-TV, the girlfriend of 25-year-old Joseph Banks called 911 seeking assistance after realizing that Banks was in trouble.

When paramedics arrived to the scene, they discovered Banks dead. Authorities believe that heroin and opioids were involved in Banks' death.

Banks had been assigned to the juvenile booking unit.
