Detective Sean Dodge said he got the idea to run a marathon in full gear two years ago as a way to honor the memory of fallen officers.

A detective with the Modesto Police Department recently ran the Boston Marathon in full uniform in an effort to pay honor to five fallen officers.

According to ABC News, Detective Sean Dodge said he got the idea to run a marathon in full gear two years ago as a way to honor the memory of fallen officers.

"It became personal," Dodge said. "It became a mission of mine to honor those officers, and honor those families. So, I found five officers and their families that I wanted to run for during the Boston Marathon."

For the last mile, Dodge ran with his hand held high, gripping five cards with images of those fallen heroes.
