Michigan Officer Shot, Suspect Killed in Standoff

A Deputy with the Jackson County (MI) Sheriff's Office was shot late Wednesday while responding to a domestic violence call.

A deputy with the Jackson County (MI) Sheriff's Office was shot late Wednesday while responding to a domestic violence call.

According to WILX-TV, when police arrived to the home a man opened fire, striking the deputy multiple times.

The man then fled to another home, where he was later found dead several hours later, reportedly dying from injuries sustained in the gunfight with police.

The deputy was transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Jackson County Major Crimes Task Force is handling the investigation.
