A deputy with the Coweta County (GA) Sheriff's Office was shot and killed by a family member on Tuesday.

According to WSB-TV, 25-year-old Deputy Edmond Irvin was shot and killed by his cousin—identified as 17-year-old Danny Long—during a family fight. The gunman fled the home where the shooting occurred, but was apprehended and taken into custody. Long has been charged with murder and making terroristic threats.

The agency posted on Twitter, "Please be in prayer for the family of our fallen brother and his brothers and sisters at CCSO this morning and in the days ahead."
