The University of North Carolina at Charlotte student who died fighting back against an active shooter attack last week was laid to rest with full military honors last weekend.
According to the New York Post, the student—21-year-old Riley Howell—had been in the Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) on campus and had he lived would have served in the military.
Howell tackled the suspect—identified as 22-year-old Trystan Terrell—who had allegedly burst into an anthropology class and opened fire.
The attack also took the life of 19-year-old Ellis Parlier.
