The chief of police for the Fort Worth (TX) Police Department has been fired just days after he had a heated argument with the president of the Combined Law Enforcement Associations of Texas (CLEAT).

According to the Star-Telegram, Fort Worth Police Chief Joel Fitzgerald had approached Todd Harrison following an awards banquet and dinner as part of National Police Week. The discussion reportedly became heated.

Assistant City Manager Jay Chapa said in the termination letter, "Because of your increasing lack of good judgement as the Police Chief of the City of Fort Worth, we have lost confidence that you can be a trusted member of the City's Management team."

Fitzgerald plans to file an administrative appeal.
