According to USA Today, Officer Isaac Sowells spent three seasons with the Cleveland Browns, playing 17 games at guard. Officer Jason Hilliard played with the New York Giants, competing in two games at the position of offensive tackle.
Both officers had excellent college careers, playing at Indiana and Louisville, respectively.
Now, instead of protecting their quarterbacks from taking a sack, they protect members of the community in Derby City.
Both officers had to retire from the NFL due to injuries, but those injuries did not prevent them from completing training at the academy and becoming sworn officers.
"We don't use our size and stature to police. We open our mouths and we talk and that's how we police," Hilliard said.
