An officer with the Daytona Beach Shores (FL) Police Department was nearly struck by a pickup truck fleeing a traffic stop on Wednesday.
Body camera footage made available to Fox News shows the officer attempting to deploy a TASER before the driver of the vehicle quickly sped off from the scene.
The suspect—identified as 28-year old William Patterson had been pulled over for driving without a seatbelt. During the stop, the officer reportedly learned that Patterson also was driving with a suspended license.
Patterson allegedly took off and led police on a lengthy pursuit, but eventually surrendered and pulled over.
He faces multiple charges, including aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer, aggravated fleeing and eluding, felony driving while license is suspended, and felony possession of marijuana.
