A suspected armed robber shot and wounded an officer with the New Orleans Police Department early Monday morning.
According to NOLA.com, the officer had responded to a call of an armed robbery at a local pharmacy when two suspects emerged from the store. At least one suspect opened fire, striking the officer in the shoulder.
The officer was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. The officer’s condition was not immediately available.
One suspect was also shot, while the other fled on foot.
It wasn’t immediately clear if the officer fired his weapon.
