The San Francisco Police Department hosted a nine-mile run in support of Special Olympics of California that drew nearly 3,000 participants from across the Golden State.
According to KTVU-TV News, proceeds will directly benefit more than 23,000 children and adults with physical and intellectual disabilities in California.
The money helps provide free year-round sports training and competitions, inclusive school programs, and health resources.
The San Francisco Police Department has reportedly raised more than $2 million in 21 years of supporting Special Olympics.
