More than 70 officers with the Philadelphia Police Department have been placed on desk duty while the agency conducts an internal investigation into hundreds of officers' social media posts.

According to CBS News, the investigation began when the Plain View Project—an initiative started in 2017 by a group of attorneys in Philadelphia—released a massive database of social media posts the group deemed to be potentially racist and violent.

Philadelphia Police Commissioner Richard Ross said that it's possible that some of the officers would return to duty after discipline, while others would not be returning to the department.
