According to Fox News, the panel cited the handling of the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland in 2018 that killed 17 people and the 2017 Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport shooting.
The panel said that the Sheriff's Office was unprepared and overwhelmed by the two incidents.
Sheriff Gregory Tony—who was appointed sheriff in January after his predecessor Scott Israel was removed from office by Governor Ron DeSantis—called the news disheartening, but placed the blame entirely on the previous administration.
