Video: Oklahoma Officer Rescues Toddler from Hot Car

An officer with the Owasso (OK) Police Department is being praised for his actions in removing a toddler from the back of a car parked in extreme heat.

An officer with the Owasso (OK) Police Department is being praised for his actions in removing a toddler from the back of a car parked in extreme heat.

According to NBC News, the toddler was in the car for between 15 and 20 minutes and was crying when the officer discovered the abandoned child in the parking lot of a local liquor store.

The mother—identified as 24-year-old Gretchen Markovics—was arrested on charges of child endangerment.

The child was transported to a nearby hospital for evaluation and released into the custody of the Oklahoma Department of Human Services.
