An officer with the Lexington (KY) Police Department suffered significant injuries after being stabbed by a hospital patient on Sunday morning.
According to WKYT-TV, police were called to deal with a man who was behaving erratically in the emergency room.
When officers began to arrest the subject—identified as 29-year-old Michael Terry—he reportedly drew an edged weapon and stabbed one of the officers in the upper torso.
The officer, who has not been identified, is reported to be in stable condition.
Terry now faces several charges including assault of a police officer.
