A Titusville man faces charges of aggravated battery of a law enforcement officer, fleeing and eluding, and resisting arrest after striking a Melbourne police officer with the side-view mirror of his SUV.
According to Florida Today, the man—identified as 48-year-old Darryl Waller—was wanted on a felony warrant for violation of probation.
An officer attempted to effect an arrest at a manufacturing facility.
Waller fled the building and got into his SUV. As an officer began to approach the vehicle, Waller accelerated from a parking spot and his driver's-side mirror struck the officer in the right shoulder.
The condition of the officer was not immediately released but his injuries are reportedly not life threatening.
