Ohio Officer Cleared of Wrongdoing in OIS
An officer with the Sharonville (OH) Police Department who shot a man in a hotel earlier this week has been cleared of any wrongdoing by the Hamilton County Prosecutor.
An officer with the Sharonville (OH) Police Department who shot a man in a hotel earlier this week has been cleared of any wrongdoing by the Hamilton County Prosecutor.
The agency said on Facebook, "Today, Hamilton County Prosecutor Joseph T. Deters announced that the police officer involved in the August 13th Sharonville shooting was justified in his actions and no charges would be filed against him."
Sharonville police responded to a call of a man holding his adult daughter hostage at a residence. The caller reported that the man was using drugs and had a gun. The caller also said that the assailant had an outstanding warrant for his arrest.
"She told the dispatcher that the man was threatening to jump out a window and make his daughter do the same," the agency said on Facebook.
In the very early hours of that morning, the assailant—identified as Duane Harrison—left the dwelling and opened fire on officers.
Sharonville Police Officer Sean Grogan returned fire and fired three shots at the gunman. Harrison was struck in the arm, chest, and ankle. He was transported to a nearby hospital where he remains in University Hospital in stable condition.
