Illinois Deputy Stabbed in Face at Courthouse Holding Cell

A deputy with the Vermilion County Sheriff's Office was stabbed in the face by an inmate in a holding cell in the county courthouse in Danville on Friday.

A deputy with the Vermilion County (IL) Sheriff's Office was stabbed in the face by an inmate in a holding cell in the county courthouse in Danville on Friday.

According to the Chicago Tribune, the inmate was subsequently shot and wounded.

Both men were transported to a nearby hospital. Neither man's conditions have been released.
